Insurance

Guarantee of hospital costs

Please clarify your insurance policy conditions with your health insurance scheme or insurance company in good time before coming into the clinic.

Please take note of the following:

  • You are registered with the clinic by your attending doctor. Together with this registration, your doctor must also submit to the clinic a form signed by you in his practice and bearing the Admission Code, for the attention of your health insurance scheme. Based on these two documents, the registration form and the admission diagnosis form, on your behalf the clinic obtains a commitment to provide cover from your health insurance scheme. In principle, however, you are responsible yourself within the scope of your insured status for ensuring that the costs are covered by your insurer.
  • The clinic itself has no duty to verify the insurance policy conditions of its patients. Verification by the clinic is a special service. It is the responsibility and in the interests of patients to be familiar with the extent of cover provided by their insurance policy or to find this out before a stay in hospital. The clinic disclaims all liability in the event of error or incorrect assessment of insurance cover by a patient.
  • Without the commitment to provide cover or without proof of sufficient coverage of costs, on the day of admission you will have to sign a form declaring that you agree to meet the costs.
  • In exceptional cases, particularly if there is no valid contract between the clinic and your health insurance scheme/insurer, you may have to make a prepayment (payable in cash, by credit card or in advance to our postal account No. 40-12625-6). The amount of prepayment due is calculated on an individual basis and payable before or on admission to the clinic.
  • Admission day and discharge day count as two days in the in-patient sector.

Retentions

Your stay in the Merian Iselin will be billed according to the valid tariffs and legal requirements. Please remember that, for all treatments in the Merian Iselin, you will be charged by your health insurer the statutory retention and/or the retention agreed by you with your health insurance scheme/insurer.

Medicines
We would point out that the basic insurance under the Swiss law on compulsory health care (KVG) only covers medicines on the «speciality list» (SL). Not all treatments can be carried out solely with medicines on the SL. We will have to bill you separately for those medicines that do not appear on the speciality list and therefore are not covered by the health insurance scheme.

Costs charged to the patient

Telephone charges, drinks (Eptinger mineral water and tea are free of charge), visitors’ food, dental services, patient aids, daily TV rental for patients with general insurance CHF 8.00, etc.

Please take note of further advice contained in the «Merian Iselin Information for Patients».
