Day Clinic

In the past, a surgical operation was nearly always followed by a stay in the clinic. However, advances in medicine, improvements in surgical methods and anaesthesia management now make it possible to carry out ward-based operations on an out-patient or day-surgery basis. The procedure is performed to the same safety standards but the patient can be discharged home after a brief recovery phase.

Advantages

The advantages of out-patient surgery are that you are operated on by a doctor you trust and you can recover at home in familiar surroundings.

You will be given an emergency number which you can call after you have been discharged. This enables you to reach your doctor and the specialists of the Merian Iselin at any time (even during night) if you have any questions or if you are at all worried.

In a final discussion, the timing of your discharge from the day clinic will be discussed with you and further medical action following discharge will be decided.
