Operating theatres

The surgical wing of the Merian Iselin, completely rebuilt at the end of 2002, holds six identical operating theatres. They all measure 7 x 7 metres and have a 3 x 3 metre laminar field with the highest clean room classification in the middle. This surgical wing is state-of-the-art compared with standards across Europe and provides optimal conditions for surgical procedures. Its multi-functionality supports high utilisation of the infrastructure and rational use of resources. Ultra-modern workplace design takes account of the intensive workload within the surgical team. In terms of the building and infrastructure, all the conditions exist for computer-assisted operating techniques and the high-spec facilities meet the strictest hygiene regulations for ventilation in clinic operating theatres.
